Recycling reactors for flexible PU foam residues

Technology

The H&S technology for the recycling of flexible PU foam residues is based on an optimized acidolysis method in which PU residues are dissolved in a mixture of carboxylic acid and basic polyol. Compared to previous conversion methods, polyols produced by using H&S technology feature good reactivity and contain the quantity of primary aromatic amines (methylene and toluene diamine) below statutory provisions, which are hazardous and not acceptable for mattress and upholstery foams.

Raw materials for the process:

Recovered polyol can substitute 20% and more of the conventional polyol for the production of mattress and furniture PU foam, and achieve an even higher

substitute percentage for technical foams, without affecting the physical and mechanical properties of the PU foam.
